The jump for SOFT

In October 2015, Dan Holmes made the leap for SOFT in memory of Evie Scott. Dan is neither a keen flyer nor a seasoned parachutist but he wanted to take on this personal challenge in support of close friends. Watch Dan in action. And here's the article the appeared in his local paper (the Walsall Advertiser).

Dan tells us a little bit about what prompted him to make this jump

"Knowing my slight nervousness to flying in the first place, To say I was overjoyed by my 30th Birthday gift to Jump out of a perfectly good plane is a slight overstatement! Those of you who know me will understand how I like Adrenaline rush of going on my Bikes, however jumping out of a Plane is not something I would have ever done! I don’t think I like the 'Lack ofControl'. It should be a great buzz, and I can safely say already it will be a 'Once in a lifetime' experience for me!

Although never been directly affected by this genetic condition, I first heard about Edwards Syndrome (Trisomy 18) when it became present in our close friends unborn Baby, who was cruelly taken from them before she could take her first breath. Edwards' Syndrome & Patau's Syndrome are the 2nd and 3rd most common autosomal abnormalities to Down's Syndrome (Trisomy 21). They are very serious conditions with no cure, most diagnosed pregnancies result in miscarriage or stillbirth. SOFTuk came along and provided the bereaved parents with the Help, Support network and Information they needed to try and come to terms with their Loss.

SOFTuk are a National Charity funded entirely by voluntary contributions. They provide information and support at all stages following a prenatal diagnosis. If a baby is born they SOFTuk will continue to provide full support as they will often be living with multiple and profound disabilities."
