Who We Support
At SOFT UK, we are dedicated to assisting families affected by trisomy 13, trisomy 18, and related conditions, recognising that each journey is unique and often challenging. Whether you are starting this journey with a recent diagnosis or have experienced loss years ago, we are here for you.
Support from SOFT UK never expires!
We provide comprehensive support throughout all stages, including:
Pregnancy and Diagnosis: We provide resources and support from the point of diagnosis, whether early in pregnancy or later. This includes families facing complex decisions around continuing a pregnancy, termination for medical reasons (TFMR), or ending a pregnancy for health and maternal-related considerations.
Miscarriage and Stillbirth: For families who experience the heartbreak of miscarriage or stillbirth, we offer a safe space to grieve and connect with others who understand the deep impact of loss at any stage of pregnancy.
Neonatal and Infant Loss: We support families who face the loss of a newborn in those first precious days and weeks, providing immediate support and ongoing connection.
Support for Children with Trisomy Conditions: For families raising a child with trisomy 13, 18, or related conditions, we provide resources, information, and a community that understands the unique challenges and joys of caring for a child with complex needs.
Support for Families and Loved Ones: We recognise that the impact of loss extends beyond the immediate family. We offer compassionate support for siblings, grandparents, friends, and anyone affected by the loss of a child or young person at any age. Our aim is also to offer guidance on how to support your loved ones during difficult times.
Support for Health Care Professionals: We recognise the vital role health professionals play in supporting families affected by trisomy. SOFT UK offers a wealth of resources and insights to help professionals provide informed, compassionate care. This includes access to the latest information on trisomy conditions, best practices for communication, and understanding the emotional landscape families navigate. Our goal is to equip health care professionals with the knowledge and tools they need to support families effectively.
Bereavement Support for Families of All Ages: We continue to stand by families who experience the loss of a child or young person at any age.
No matter the path your journey has taken, how long ago it began, or the decisions you have made, SOFT UK is here to provide a supportive community, access to resources, and a listening ear. We are committed to ensuring that no bereaved family or caregiver has to face this journey alone.
